At the turn of the millennium a late night British 'talking heads' show had a discussion on leadership. The general consensus was that people (mostly men) who aspire to leadership are exhibiting a symptom of mental illness. We tend to agree with this view.
Discussions of leadership as found in the New Testament are seldom zero-based discussions. Mostly they start by assuming the leadership seen in the world is basically the same as leadership in the church. As we have pointed out in our Theology of Structure page, structure forms thinking. So, of course the discussions will begin with this assumption. Once you have a structure you will have leadership. Structure depends on leadership. And vice versa. That is why victorious dictators define and impose structure.
